The Early Years
Students in the Early Years (Reception to Year 2) are active and experienced learners. At the Islamic College of South Australia we use an approach to learning and teaching that is based on the idea that learning:
- is often developed through play
- takes place in authentic situations
- involves initiation, negotiation and mediation
- is based upon the child's prior knowledge
These underlying principles are respected in all subjects that students study.
