Creative Arts   Art - Icon

During the Early Years, the study of arts provides children with experiences across a range of areas including visual arts, craft, design, dance, drama, media and music. It is taught both explicitly in structured lessons, and incidentally as it fits in with other curriculum areas. The children have opportunities to develop artistic skills through activities, such as:

  • drawing, painting and sculpting
  • singing and performing
  • role-playing and using puppets

We use diverse materials, some of which are play dough, cartons, crayons, glue, pompoms and string.

Involvement in the arts teaches children to appreciate creative expression and aesthetics. The arts develop children's physical (fine and gross motor skills), mental (lateral thinking), social (communication and interaction) and personal (confidence and imagination) skills.
