Studies of Design and Technology provide children with the skills and knowledge necessary for living and working in an increasingly technological world. It is essentially concerned with solving problems in an effort to stimulate students' creativity and to encourage them to combine intellectual talents and practical skills.
Design and Technology exposes students to the processes of designing, making and critically assessing their own creations and those of others. Students develop proficiency in the use of manual and computerised technologies. They study the use and role of technology in society and develop an awareness of the social and ethical implications of technological development.
In the Early Years Design and Technology fosters personal skills including persistence, resilience, collaboration and communication. The students work in teams, solve problems and continually improve their designs.
