Our Mathematics curriculum at the Islamic College of South Australia exposes students to a range of learning activities within the strands of the SACSA framework. Central to our teaching is the importance and relevance of Mathematics to daily life. Hands-on materials and number charts are always used to support Mathematical tasks. The teacher usually models the task to the whole class and then students work individually or in small groups. They are encouraged to share what they have learnt with each other.

From Reception to Year 2, the students participate in learning activities from the following topics:

  • Pattern and algebraic reasoning
  • Numbers
  • Measurements
  • Spatial sense and geometric reasoning
  • Exploring, analysing and modeling data

We revisit and consolidate all Mathematics topics throughout the year to ensure that our students have a good foundation in Mathematics.
