Middle School Co-Curriculum
Crystal Lake Camp

At the Islamic College of South Australia we aim to develop the whole person and try to incorporate co-curricular activities that allow students to expand their social skills and enhance their emotional maturity. A school camp is a perfect opportunity for getting to know students in a different setting. The students were asked to help in the planning and organization of this camp to ensure it was "their" camp.
All year 8s and 9s went on a three-day camp to Crystal Lake, near Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills. We were fortunate to have good weather for the entire time. We enjoyed a variety of activities, including water canoe, mini Olympics, tennis, flying rope, eight ball, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, the Mole and Australian Idol. The competitions and games had been organized by the students themselves. The students also participated in reflection sessions, workshops and prayers.
