Mayoral Make-A-Book Competition & Josiah Mitton Award
At the Islamic College of South Australia we place a great emphasis on improving literacy standards across all year levels. Each year our students enter individual, group and class books into the Mayoral Make-a-Book Competition for the opportunity to win a prize. This activity encourages writing across all year levels. Some students complete narratives, others big books and group activities. We are proud to say that each year a significant number of our students win wonderful book prizes in this competition.
The Year 7 students can be nominated for the Josiah Mitton Award, which is presented by the Charles Sturt Council. Each year the most outstanding student is chosen to receive the award. This student completes their primary school studies with this prestigious recognition of their excellent work from both the school community and the local community.
