At the Islamic College of South Australia students study Design and Technology, which incorporates Home Economics, Applied Design and Textiles. Design and Technology is a subject that exposes students to a variety of learning experiences.
In Home Economics students learn about:
- Food and safety
- Social structures
- Nutrition
- Health and well-being
- Life pathways
- Meeting the needs of people and society
- Communicating design ideas
- Designing and making with mechanisms
- Working through a design brief
- Applying safe practices and designing products that are safe to use.
When studying Textiles, students learn about design and construction skills in textiles. We emphasize the creative interpretation of student projects and aim to refine their appreciation of craftsmanship.
