English as a Second Language 
At the Islamic College of South Australia we offer support for students from Non-English-Speaking Backgrounds (NESB) from Reception classes onwards. By offering this assistance we aim to ensure that our students learn communicative and formal academic language skills and develop appropriate study skills.
The E.S.L. Curriculum in Years 7 to 10 is one of intensive support which caters for the differing needs of students in order to equip them with the skills neccesary for academic study in Senior Years.
Student learning is focused on the macro skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially "genres". We want our students to be able to transfer their acquired knowledge successfully throughout their school life and in all their subject areas.
