Qur'anic and Islamic Studies ![]()
At the Islamic College of South Australia the Qur'anic and Islamic Education program is at the core of our curriculum. We want our students to develop a deep love and appreciation for the Qur'an and to model their values and attitudes on those of Prophet Mohammed
.
In Years 7 to 10 we aim to develop the students' ability to read the Qur'an according to the appropriate Tajweed pronunciation rules. Our students also have to memorise certain chapters of the Qur'an, for instance, the 1st, 28th & 29th part. Another component of Qur'anic Studies is the discussion of the meaning of the learnt chapters.
In Islamic Studies students learn about Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Islamic History (including stories of prophets), Aqeedah (Islamic Doctrine), Adaab and Akhlaaq (Manners and Ethics) as part of the students' spiritual development. They also learn about the importance of moderation in Islam. We make sure that these subjects are related to students' concerns and issues.
