Qur'anic and Islamic Studies ![]()
At the Islamic College of South Australia the Qur'anic and Islamic Education Program is at the core of our curriculum. We want our students to develop a deep love and appreciation for the Qur'an and to model their values and attitudes on those of Prophet Mohammed
.
In the Primary Years we aim to develop the students' ability to read the Qur'an according to the appropriate Tajweed pronunciation rules. Our students also have to memorise certain chapters of the Qur'an, for instance, the 30th part (Juz Amma). Another component of Qur'anic Studies is understanding the meaning of the learnt chapters.
In Islamic Studies students learn in greater detail about the principles of Islamic faith, Aqeedah, for instance, the pillars of Islam and the pillars of faith. Students also memorise and understand the attributes of Allah.
In Jurisprudence (Fiqh) students begin to learn and discuss the Islamic rules involved in our rituals of worships, such as, prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage. Islamic History (including stories about the prophets), Adaab and Akhlaaq (Manners and Ethics) also form part of Islamic Studies in the Primary School.
